I didn't do the math but it looks like he pulled around $2000 for the lot (sans the scissors). Imagine "offered for your consideration, 18 nos Filarmonica Doble Temple razors #13 & #14 new in box at a starting bid of 99 cents"....lots of good pix, 5 day auction, ending Sunday night at say 8pm EST....ya think the last bid exceeds 4K.

holli4pirating, your points are well taken. Hope my comments weren't misinterpreted. MY comments weren't designed to malign the seller, just to raise an awareness of caution as should actually always be there when dealing with people you don't know especially when not on a forum such as this where you get a feel for people thru interaction. My other comments about getting NO satisfaction from ebay buyer protection was just a fact I had and thought people shouldn't feel it was a safety net to save them. Hope all that bid got a GREAT deal. Cheers, Dave

I refused to bid, because when I sent him a question, he NEVER replied to me.

I dont know what prompted him to reply to some of you but not others.

But I would just as soon not risk it.

Well, it arrived today. Paid $117 plus $5 S&H, appears to be the real McCoy. Blade is a little loose in the scales...an easy fix. A couple a very minor light stains (who cares) and seems to need only a very light fine honing to be shave ready. Compared to typical #14 DT prices, I would say all in all one hell of a find. My thanks to BuddyRockefella for the heads up and I hope any other winners of these auctions are as pleased as I am!

Congratulations on your purchase. You took a gamble and it paid off handsomely. Enjoy.

Great to see that people are receiving their razors. This was a unique opportunity to get NOS filly's for less than $100.
    I won 4 of them.

I think you will find you made out like a bandit. I was tempted to bid on more but just locked in on the one. I figured there would be some members here also bidding so I wanted to play nice. I had to tighten the pivot pin on mine a bit and give it around 80 passes on a 16K. I just finished shave testing and I am happy to report it is a typical Filly....silky smooth!!

I was expecting them to go for more so I was surprised when i won so many. I have seen ones that were in good shape but clearly not NOS go for $150 so I was expecting them to go for a lot more than $100 anyway, even with a seller without a history.

I have only been buying straights on ebay a couple months and have not been ripped off or scammed and mostly have been very lucky as most of the items I bought were better than I expected. A lot of sellers don't know anything about straights or their true value so sometimes you can run across deals that seem almost too good to be true.

A month ago I got a NOS Henckels Twinworks for $56. For a lot of people straight razors are ''useless junk'' so when Uncle Bill dies they are just happy to get any money they can for them. At least that's an alternative to thinking than that it is too good to be true and that it must be a scammer which stops you from bidding on the good opportunities.
