I really don't know for sure if there are Chinese imitation Dovo's , but there are Chinese imitations of many things that are popular name brands . I'm leery of the low price , and the description "straight razor folding knife" . If it turns out that you can't get a shaving edge on the razor , they could (if they even bother to) tell you it's not a razor , it's a knife . Quality doesn't come cheap , and you get what you pay for , if you're lucky .
Greetings , from Dundalk , Maryland . The place where normal people , fear to go .

I thought the "related items" were interesting as well.
The fact that they know nothing about the items they carry just makes them like many other internet and big box stores. That does not mean the items are knock offs. They also carry a few others in the Dovo line along with some other brands and at the prices they want for factory edges I wouldn't even think about buying from them.

I don't have hones(yet), or I might have ordered one and put an edge and new scales on myself. Like others have mentioned if you can't hone it yourself there is no deal to be had here.
Also please don't get me wrong I fully plan to continue "buying Local" supporting the quality service that places normally mentioned here provide.
However the frugal part of me still takes note when there is a sale and thought I would share it with the gang.Last edited by TeMpTiN; 11-01-2010 at 01:09 AM. Reason: Typo

Thanked: 480I have a friend in the cutlery biz, who told me he can get me Dovo razors if I want them. and like any other thing, the more you buy, the cheaper they are.
We never talked actual price, but if I could buy 100 of them, at a cost of 30 dollars each, I would have to lay down 3000 dollars, and then spend 30 minutes each putting a hone on them.
I would have to sell 38 of them at 80 bucks each just to see the return on the original investment. Even if I only needed to put 15 minutes into each blade, thats 25 hours of my time, not including time spent writing advertizments, and actually selling, and shipping, and assuming I sell 2 razors a week, I MIGHT see a profit a year down the road!
Bargins, they really dont exist!

BudK has been around a long time but is primarily a knife seller so is marketing them as such. If you look the ones that are on sale are also the ones that are in closeout pricing as well. If you have a set of hones then this isn't a bad deal and you will get a nice razor out of it.

Thanked: 480Found it an odd coincidence, that right after this post was put up, an advertising banner for BUDK showed up on the page.

Budk is a catalog of crap, IMO. But if they have discontinued Dovos I think you would be alright, unless they are seconds with problems.
It is easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled. Twain

They sell other dovo's and boker's here. the low price may be cause it is nickel plated. the other razors on this site are listed as carbon steel.

Peace out
