Thanked: 13245I can't say whether it is a good deal in the UK, but here in the States that would be pretty expensive...
Maybe one of the UK restorers could let you know better.

That guy is a total ripoff. He buys all his stuff from Microfasteners, then resells it at 5X or more the actual cost.

Interesting that some of his customers are in US and can get the same thing at a fraction of the cost.
I guess internationally it may be an option that people don't have, since he is willing to mail first class internationally.
And there's the psychology trick - most people would balk at paying $2 for an item and $15 for its shipping, but be happy with $20 for the same item and $3 for the shipping (as long as they don't see both options side by side).

Thanked: 124I personally like the "pro or beginner" trick, implying that some of his customers are professional restorers, or that they would purchase from him. Reminds me of an infomercial.

Thanked: 235I have bought from him. Being in Thailand the only option I have is to eith fly to America to buy pins or purchase at an overly inflated price from ebay.

Thanked: 30I use the gentleman in Denmark.(I think thats his location) He's a little pricey but I love the setup. I think they are the same as Dovo and TI. If you email him he will send you a price list and menu of his kits. I think it comes out to about a dollar a razor for pin kits from him. Silber-Pins(silver)

Thanked: 124
You could prolly put out a want to buy here. Someone might hook you up for a fair price.
Now that I think about it, I'm going to need to put in an order for rod and such sometime in Jan. I can order extra and mail it to you, it wouldn't a problem, just have to repack it. PM if you're interested.

Am I reading that listing correctly ? Three nickel silver pins ? Thomas from Revisor was selling pins and washers. I forget how many but I bought enough to last probably the rest of my life for around $25.00 shipped and they are the very pins/washers used by Revisor in Solingen for their razors.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
