So, the thread is closed but I have the special power to post despite that, so I'll address the original question.

I don't see what the big problem is. The standard practice for returns is that the customer gets back his money after the vendor receives the returned merchandise. I have never dealt with a company that does it any other way. And if you open and win a dispute with ebay/paypal you will have to do exactly this - first return the razor and once it has been confirmed as delivered only then you get your money.

Seems pretty simple and straightforward to me, it's just the convention of how these things are done. If you want some extra special treatment you ought to be able to negotiate the exception with the other party, otherwise you'll just have to do it like everybody else.
