There are alternatives. Ebay just does not allow them due to "Security Reasons".

I'm sure it has nothing to do with them also owning paypal....

    I rarely sell on eBay.
I have not yet found an alternative that competes as far as fees and dealing with international transactions. I am very motivated to find an alternative, so am open to suggestions...
Google Checkout was the best I've worked with other than PP - but it doesn't work for international sales. Commercial gateways charge much bigger fees, and you are dealing with corporate banks as a middleman...

Check with your post office to ensure that the address you are using is correct... sounds silly i know but where is live the road goes by 4 different names... because they cannot decide what to call. my bank accepts one name the credit cards accept a different name for the road my eclectic bill lists my address as a third ... the post office says the official address is the fourth... i get my mail if i use any of them though but gps, ups, 911 and fedex all like the post office address. shippers claim there is no road by the name i use the most. see i told you it is stupid. paypal let's me use the address on the bank account.
    Be just and fear not.

As a norwegian customer, my address can't be confirmed, ever, afaik. I have over 1k transactions with a 100% positive, but my address still shows as unverified. It never stopped any transactions for me though, knock on wood.

I have had some problems with Paypal, but they usually are able to fix them for me when I call. On one occasion I had to call a few times before someone figured out what the problem was. Maybe try and see if you can get someone who has been doing tech work at Paypal longer than others and knows more.

I think paypal just sucks and their customer support sucks even more.

At one point I noticed that my address was showing as unverified on the seller's invoice, it was verified in the past, and is also verified at the moment.

Also last year I sold something on ebay that the buyer tried to pull a scam on. Claimed that he hadn't received it even though he had signed for it. The original receipt was showing his address as eligible for the seller's protection, but when he opened the dispute that was not the case anymore - something had changed in the paypal's system and not in my favor.
The first representative told me that I'm not eligible for the seller protection. The second one tried it too, but I was prepared with my original receipt, and so they had to 'research it further', and confirmed that I would be eligible. Then they claimed that I haven't gotten signature and closed the case in the scammer's favor. I had to obtain the signature from the post office, which was an ordeal by itself, since by then they had to pull it off an archive as the scammer waited until the latest possible day to open the dispute.
Eventually though I had the buyer's signature when they got the item and paypal give me back the money (about $500) which they had taken the moment the dispute was opened.

Anyways, it's probably paypal's fault, but getting them to fix it is most likely not going to be easy.
