Thanked: 1936Cool stand, but the stone is one that I would definitely stay away from...it is NOT an escher & is broken, useless for straight razors.

Yea the stand looks like all it would be good for or just as an antique showpiece if one had interest in that sort of thing. Strange how it does look painted or coated with something and the cutting surface is so uneven hehe(maybe good for a warped blade ). How it was advertised gave me a chuckle: ''Escher? Norton? Coticule? Thuringian?''

Being an inveterate wise guy I thought about sending the seller a message suggesting that the stone might be, "all of the above."
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

That reminds me, I contacted him in an inexperienced manner asking if it would be a good for my razors. I was just curious to see if he was willing to take advantage of someone from an inexperienced standpoint. Jim I could see that winding him up and then him becoming even more $_$ lol
Edit: Got a reply. Nothing out of ordinary. Said might work but that's why independant research in anything is important before you buy and I gotta give the guy the benefit of the doubt and remind myself not to be judgemental.Last edited by AndrewK; 03-31-2012 at 01:20 AM.

I agree that it is a cool stand. I see also the bottom dowel would be good for testing your edge and save your thumb pad from abuse!
