Thanks folks for your kind replies. The razor was released from Customs yesterday, Easter Sunday of all times, and perhaps is now on its way. That was 3 days in captivity waiting for its physical and a name change.
I have to remark about the seized and destroyed razor and 7 day set. I would be curious to know what the circumstances were, and if someone plans on reimbursement.

Thanked: 2027Importing or exporting anything Ivory in the U.S. without full documentation as to when and where it was harvested is a federal offense. This is something you would never have with a vintage razor/s.
It is perfectally legal to trade, buy, sell Ivory within the U.S as the currant laws allow,This only applies to african Elephant Ivory (Indian Elephant is illegal) as is any marine Ivory such as walrus unless it is so called fossil or Mammoth.
By law as an American citizen, you cannot even/best not,Take and Ivory scaled straight into Canada,If siezed it will be confiscated and destroyed before your very eyes.

they would have to find her on the way back in... you could also try putting her in a large box marked "cuban cigars" before bringing her back into the US.
