I really haven't been looking for razors lately, CarrieM spotted the von Borsy-Steinberg for me and the Torrey for herself. I have found that the local shops have had higher prices and less to find when I do go looking.

Great idea. I never thought about looking for razors at a gun show. There is a huge one this weekend.

It never hurts to look for razors where ever you are. I wasn't looking for them at the gun show because the last time I went and was looking they were all over priced. Good luck and have fun!

I do what larry does and inform them it is for use not collection.

the problem I have is out here there are no mom and pop antique stores, they are all antique malls with multiple vendors and most wont listen to an offer if its under $50-75. I found one store, but they flat out told me they could sell it on ebay and make more. I looked around for a sniper. My bid was not accepted....I never heard the shot fired or saw the man that pulled the trigger!

Some razors are badly cracked and they still want a fortune which is ridiculous

Market Hall, Mesquite, or Ft Worth. You can sleep in and still beat me. Last few razors I've seen at Ft Worth were way high on the money and way low on the quality. Have fun if ya go.

No plans on going, I'm saving my money few $$ to buy some hones.

Don't bother going to the Weatherford antique/junkeries. They're picked clean and what's left is WAY overpriced crap.

I found a dbl duck at our local antique store for $30. It doesn't have the fancy scales just plain yellow. The blade is in really good shape, no rust, tarnish, or pitting. The spine is blackened as well as the tang. Worth $30?

IF it is as you say, I might consider it. Big question is, is it worth it to you? The spine and tang can be cleaned up without a lot of work and it might make a great razor.

Not trying to rain on your parade, but this forum has policy of no price evaluations given. The reason stated is that a razor/hone or whatever may be worth that much to one person but not to another. So if I understand it correctly, they don't allow such so as to not upset anyone or start any pissing contests. Makes sense to me.

If you want to get an idea of what a razor might be worth, do a completed sales search for the same razor on ebay and make some comparisons that way. Ebay isn't the final word but it does give a good indication of what something was worth to somebody at the time the auction ended.

Yeah, you guys make it hard to find a good deal this days. I used to have free reign over all the SLC antique razors, they would pretty much accept any of my offers-- now I have to pay close to fair market value; it's almost too much to bear

Will do on the Ebay research. Oops, I didn't know about the priceing rule. I thought I had seen others ask if they paid to much for items on here or was it worth what they paid.
