looks to me like that is a cracked ice style scales which is not mother of pearl. i bet whoever gets it is not going to be such a happy camper with the description you will find most of those dubl duks have that cracked ice (white/silver or gold) style of scales.
8/8 mint dubl duck is still a pretty nice and trendy razor so the price was going to be higher then alot of razor. but ya, 405$ is high especially when they found out its not MOP scales!!
should send the guy to bill's special selling instructions page

Thanked: 9I believe the guy who bought it is aware that the scales are celluloid. It's just the size and rarity, combined with all else, I think. Anyway, I was surprised when it went over 300

Those 8/8s come up every now and then but I've never seen any DD go for that much. You can buy a NOS Wonderedge still sealed in its original packing for over a hundred bucks less.

What surprised me the most on this was seeing Manyware on the bidding list @ $300+.

It's probably a pretty rare opportunity, and it is one of the "hip" razors. I do think that it went at a premium, but obviously whoever won wanted the razor badly enough to pay more than what we would expect.
I'm sure whoever bought it will enjoy it, though. I've never given much thought to how much a razor cost me when I was enjoying shaving with it. Only when the bill came... oy!

Wow. Even though I've never seen an 8/8 Wonderedge, that's a pretty high price, although considering the condition and the rarity of the size, I'm not surprised it went that high. Those Dubl Ducks are getting so pricey
