Thanked: 6Bokerblade,
The members on this forum span multiple generations. Therefore, a lot of them are not up to speed on the next generation's short hand text lingo that is so commonly used and gradually replacing proper english outside of texting. Some feel its a nuisance that's vulgarizing our wonderful language, some feel its rude, others just don't understand it, especially more "matured" generations. When implemented outside of a text message it leads one to presume the writer is to lazy to type the complete word. I am only 36 so I am in the middle of many generations. Although I can understand the usual "LOL" LMFAO" "IMHO, etc, I can't undestand my 14 yr olds messages. I would conside myself a savvy dude, but to me, they appear more like an enemy combatant's secret code and I am not a cryptographer so it appears inane nonesense talk. Although I think there are some posts on here that may be a tad hard on you about "STR8s!!!", it does bring into contrast a good point about communicating in a manner which is universally understood by all. Especially, the esteemed gentlemen that we're trying to become (At least for those of us who still have a way to go). In either case, I am in no position to judge, but I just wanted to point out to you that you have a very diverse audience here and your reputation counts. So you need to understand and choose your words wisely so they will be understood clearly by all readers. Either way, take it for what its worth and Good luck on your sale!

Since when have been allowed to spruik our auctions openly? I thought that was frowned upon.

I am going to pick on your well reasoned response for a very brief second. Before I do that though, I have to agree with you. If we want to be effective in a public forum, we need to communicate in an intelligible way to our broader audience. Otherwise, we are not going to be successful in what it is we are intending to communicate.
Now having said that, I have been around the internet long enough to know that picking on the way a person spells, types, uses jargon, or any other thing we feel is tiresome, is not necessary. Does it really matter one wit to anyone how Bokerblade posts, just so long as he isn't being overtly offensive to others?
I'm 48 years old and I managed to communicate just fine with Bokerblade who purchased one of my Bokers from me a couple days ago on EBay. I didn't know Bokerblade from Adam (Ah, there's a colloquialism that the younger set might not recognize. See how it works?) until he won one of my auctions. What I do know about the the person behind the avatar is that he dealt with me quite well and on top of that he is a soldier serving his country. If there was anyone in the world I would cut a little slack to, it is to the public servants of my country.
I think there are better things to do than to pick on somebody because they use "text-speak."
Btw, as a long time lurker, it doesn't set well with me that an administrator on this forum (Bruno) would have bothered to pick this little fight. I think there are better things to do than to trot out the spelling Nazis, text-speak Nazis, etc. If Bokerblade fails to communicate that is his own fault. If Bruno thought he wanted to teach Bokerblade, then he should have contacted him in a PM and not have tried to publicly embarrass him.Last edited by GreatWhiteShavealo; 06-03-2012 at 01:19 AM.
