Thread: $10 DD Satin Wedge

Alright so someone tell me why I'm a sucker.

I was the only bidder on this. Looks like a decent small wedge, which is what I wanted, and everyone seems to think DD's are the bomb.

My guesses are: plenty of edge wear, a little small, bad pictures make you wonder.

I couldn't say. The wear isn't anywhere near being bad, about decent. Clean it up, hone it and you'll have a nice little shaver.

Spike isn't a trademark of the Duck companies, so you've got a mismatched set of scales on it. It makes the razor pretty much useless to collectors, but very cheap for you. It's the edge that matters and with DD, you're in good hands.

To illustrate Matt's point, I didn't even look at the scales, just the blade lol. The scary part is that I actually got into making scales (just on temp hold while I finish the bathroom)

I wonder whether it does have a frown or not. Many SRP members do not like a frown.

I don't think it has a frown, but if it does, hey, ten bucks and a new honing challenge. (Frowns can be honed out, can't they?)

I noticed that about the scales, but I'm not really into DD scales, with the cursive script and cracked ice, etc...one reason why this is the first DD I've bid on.

i also figure that the size kept some people away from it. with the trendy HUGE razors are better philosophy going around... this listing looks like a 4/8.

i don't mind 4/8, they shave fine, though i do prefer a bit bigger. you have to whipe/rinse them off each small pass as they aren't very wide to hold much lather as you shave.

but agree'd... clean it up, hone it and i bet it will do ya fantastic

A frown can easily be corrected with 2-handed honing on 1000 grit, with extra pressure at the heel and the toe.

Does this look like a frown to you Firestart? As you know, I'm not very good at judging the state of a razor from pictures.

Not really, but if there turns out to be one, it would be miniscule and very easy to hone out on the 1k grit hone or sand-paper.
