Thanked: 346puma duck on ebay??
did puma make dubl ducks or vice versa at some point?
This razor has "puma solingen" on one side of the shank and the dubl duck logo and bresnick on the other.

Holy crap - two of the most sought after razors rolled into one. This one should be popular.......

That's interesting, I've never seen that before. I suppose there's also an outside chance it could be some sort of counterfeit.
Is it just me, or does it look like the razor won't fit in the scales?

Thanked: 346I did some eyeballing with a piece of paper as a ruler, and it *may* fit if the wedge has been trimmed -- it's a very close thing. Those definitely aren't OE scales, though.

I've owned one of these before. It's the real deal.
As for who made who?
WELL, I can only venture a guess. However, Puma made straight razors up till the '80's, and still makes knives.
Bresnick, or dubl duck now makes pet grooming supplies.
I'm guessing that it was either a merger razor (sort of like the '1984 Nissan Datsun' I use to own), or made my Puma.......

The interesting thing is that Bresnick was the original name going back way before WWll. DDs were then Bresduck and later pearlduck. Also the Bresnick insignia is unlike any I've ever seen and the Puma print is also not like the usual Puma printing and it doesn't say made from best pumaster steel. I realize the last Puma's were made by Dovo and they had different print on the blades but that one has got to date from the 1940s at the latest so maybe Puma made razors for Bresnick like Beau Brummel Werk apparently did. But if thats the case Puma should have made razors for other companies too and I've never seen any. The beau brummel razors that Bresnick sold did not say Bresnick on them so why should the Puma's if that was the case. Its a rare bird indeed and should go for record prices.
Personally though something looks fishy about that razor. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

I think what looks fishy is the fact that the blade does not fit the scales or if it does it is very close to the pin.

Thanked: 346It's pretty obvious the scales aren't original, but the interesting thing is the shank has both dubl duck and puma stampings.

Weird coincedent?
I believe to know the guy who owns it now?
If it is still of interest for anyone I could ask for new pictures of it and a comment of what he could tell about the blade.
Compared to me he is an expert on straight-razors.
Besides, do not most DD (Dubl Ducks?) wear a "made in solingen" on the shank?
I have not looked after Dubl Ducks for some reason.
Some day there appeared a video-stream of some "sort of famous guy", Lynn Abrams (right? I bet you all know him, too), sharpening and using a dubl-duck-razor on our german forum.
By that day I had never even heard of dubl-duck before but was told that those blades are very popular in the USA?Last edited by Scarface Germany; 04-29-2007 at 09:18 PM. Reason: wrong spelling
