Very Nice thanks for sharing, looks unused, the box looks like a newer version but the hone looks the same. I believed that since this is from Troy NY that i would find some around here at antique stores and garage sales since im like 10 miles from Troy NY, but that hasnt happen yet!

    Thanks mate

You know, it is a strange little hone that Norton.
I sometimes use it on an already shave ready blade that has been finished on e.g. an Escher.
Using it this way creates an insanely sharp edge. Almost too sharp to be honest.
But it is perfect for my head-shaves
Using that method makes ATG in the back of the head like cutting through butter.

As a regular barber hone, there really isn't anything magical about it, it works like most any barber hones out there, quick and easy

Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

    Very nice info.
Out of curiosity, have you tried to actually finish fromthe Norton and skip for instance the Escher? Do you still get the scary sharp results? Or is that results only produced after used a High grit finisher first?

I have a batch of Anton bergs and heljestrands to send you, let Me know if you have nothing to Do this summer. They are to fine for Me to practice honing on.

I bought that Norton! It came today... Its the real deal. Only used it on a couple of chisels. Its got the sharpest grit I have ever used! Only used it to polish the backs of a couple chisels so far, going to run the razor across it tomorrow.

One of the pics shows the mirror finish it leaves on a chisel... chisels are handy for looking at scratch patterns and I've got a lot of them since I'm a woodworker. The Norton is very fast but needs a light touch or it will shed grit and leave deeper scratches. I dont know what grit it is, but it looks like the finish I get from low quality green paste, IE mirror with very light scratches across it.

Last shot is a family portrait with a coticule (I made the box) and a Pike transluscent arkansas that leaves a scratchless mirror finish on steel, too bad it's so small. The straight has got the gaudiest handle I have ever seen, it looks like it belonged to a pimp, but its the only one I could find with a blade that didnt need hours of work.
