My best guess is because of the name Le Grelot, nothing more nothing less....

I gave up trying to make sense of ebay pricing a long time ago. What's hot seems to change on a daily, sometimes hourly basis.

I've sold a few LeGrelots in the last few months and they've ranged from low $50 to around $120. Ive got one in the classifieds here at the moment for $98 that I reckon is much nicer than this one but no one seems interested. Perhaps I should just list it on ebay.

I'm looking for a blade bank shaped like a dice with the embossed profile of a guy shaving his face on it ......

I agree a great picture is worth... $170.00.

Seriously it's marketing... a good picture, can't tell you how many times I have passed on an item because of the picture. If the photo is of poor quality then the seller is hiding something or the seller cares so little about the quality of the photo it reflects on the item and the seller.

Actually, I am writing a book on marketing and creating demand, just this thing. First Impression... you only get one shot. Exposure creates demand - Demand drives value. Take good photos, take lots, that is your exposure on line.

Very true. If I don't see good, clear, well-focused pics of the blade in open and closed positions I won't even bid. It's not just the photos though - if the blurb is positive that's a good thing. I can't stand those auctions where they state "...I don't know anything about straight razors, but..."

    Regards,
    Neil

It is a nice one. I have always been curious about the "Hospital" and the symbol reminds of a fishing bobber or a Christmas ornament.
Were these made for medical use and what IS the symbol etched on the tang?

I try to describe the good things as well as the bad, which seems pretty rare for straight razors on ebay. Mine seem to be the only ones that have a scuff mark on the scales or a dirt pit on the blade. Everyone else's always seem to be in mint condition
