I've sold a few LeGrelots in the last few months and they've ranged from low $50 to around $120. Ive got one in the classifieds here at the moment for $98 that I reckon is much nicer than this one but no one seems interested. Perhaps I should just list it on ebay.

It must likely cause
ebay just gets alot of
people shopping for
nice treasures.
You did do a good job on
posting nice photos.
So i guess that gets people who are willing to bid higher.
cause they have a good idea of the condition.

Maybe more than one person assumed it was one of 'them old' quarter-hollow grinds, or they assumed it was NOS? That or just a bidding war.

Well, some dude in Italy scored a 7/8 restored Joseph Rodgers this weekend, for only 55$.

Thanked: 3215I agree a great picture is worth... $170.00.
Seriously it's marketing... a good picture, can't tell you how many times I have passed on an item because of the picture. If the photo is of poor quality then the seller is hiding something or the seller cares so little about the quality of the photo it reflects on the item and the seller.
Actually, I am writing a book on marketing and creating demand, just this thing. First Impression... you only get one shot. Exposure creates demand - Demand drives value. Take good photos, take lots, that is your exposure on line.Last edited by Euclid440; 08-20-2012 at 09:29 PM.

Thanked: 3164Very true. If I don't see good, clear, well-focused pics of the blade in open and closed positions I won't even bid. It's not just the photos though - if the blurb is positive that's a good thing. I can't stand those auctions where they state "...I don't know anything about straight razors, but..."
Regards,
Neil
