I think I'll go ahead and shorten the W&B. I am thinking more passes might work out ok and the shorter blade might even be easier to maneuvre around.

My apologies for making my statement sound like a rule rather than a personal opinion. Some guys might not ever care that the blade has been shortened and may never grow tired of it. Heck, maybe fat and stubby is in these days...
