Tough to tell from the picture. There's some artifacts on the edge that bother me but I can't really tell from the photo. The scales could possibly be ivory, they look thin like ivory scales, but they're in pretty bad shape. For $8 it's unlikely you got ripped off, though. If nothing else it'll make a good practice razor.

It's hard to tell from the pic, but you can't really go wrong for that price. It looks like a wedge and steel from Sheffield is great. So, if the edge is not boogered up when it arrives, you got a dandy.

A guy here with the initials... Gary Holder... would love to put some nice scales on it for you.

I think you got a good deal. It looks pretty clean from what I can tell from the picture and I like the Sheffield steel.

Clean it up, hone it and see how she shaves! If you're a total newbie, this is a great learning razor.

You didn't do quite as well on this one. The first thing I noticed on the last razor is that it really looks to be short bladed. You may get it to work, but you will grow weary of it in a short order.

    Bill,

Can you tell why grow weary?

I am asking because I have an 8/8 Barber's use with cracks and was thinking of cutting 1/2 inch from the tip so that I can use it. I just love the shape and all and don't have the heart to throw it away... plus it cost me $20

    Thanks
    Ivo

Mostly, it's because the cutting edge is much shorter which translates into more passes to cover the same area. You can still get them just as sharp, and they can make a good travel razor. But, it requires much more patience to use a 1 3/4 inch cutting edge or less than 2 1/2 inches or more.

On the other hand, if you have a partial beard, fu, or half a face full of hair that you always trim around, it may just be the ticket.
