Large coticule combo
I really have no idea if this will be picked up or not (I set a modest reserve price). I thought about posting it in the classifieds, but I'd like to get it sold soon instead of posting it at various price points and then seeing if it sell. I need some money for the purpose of financing a belt grinder. This is a yellow / blue coticule bbw combination stone.

If the stone goes to an SRP member, I'll throw in a free pocket knife like the one in this thread.

That's what I am hoping for. Hopefully, someone sets off a bidding war over this mythical long lost coticule that has mysterical and magical properties.
I recently sold a JR wedge which went for a disappointingly low price because the item stayed under the bidding radar.
That's also why I set a modest reserve. I don't mind it going for less than I'd hoped for, but I am not going to be burnt twice in a rowLast edited by Bruno; 08-21-2012 at 06:38 AM.

Thanked: 4249It is obviously a good looking practically new coti, lately on ebay ive seen coti go for cheap and some for quite a bit so hard to tell for sure,
the shipping price will not help for sure!

I know. The problem is that people just ship lowest cost without talking about registration or insurance.
If I send out a high value item uninsured, and something happens to it, or the buyer claims to have never received it, the seller gets the short end of the stick And sadly, a coticule is a big piece of rock, so shipping will cost significant money even without it. Presumably, for retailers this is less of a problem because the occasional lost package is not a big deal in the whole of things.
Just last weekend I had a potential buyer for a razor who kept trying to negotiating a lower shipping price despite my repeated explanations that I was not going to ship anything in a manner that put the risk on my shoulders. And every time I replied, he sent another message, proposing yet a different option that was cheaper than what I asked. I think the message didn't get through.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

That is also why I set a reserve price. You really can't tell with coticules. sometimes a large one goes cheap, and other times a small piece of junk goes for 200.
I'd rather not sell it now, than losing it for a ridiculously low amount.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

Thanked: 4249I understand your shipping reasoning, your definately doing it the right way in my book, perhaps you could raise your reserve price a little and
shave some of the shipping price its all about first impression!
Personally if i saw a coticule with 30 dollars shipping i would probably stay away from it, but the same coticule with a 15 dollars shipping from Belgium with registration and insurance i would go for.Last edited by Martin103; 08-21-2012 at 12:03 PM.

That is actually a good suggestion. I did just that.
I also specified that if the price breaks 200$, shipping will be free.
I have no clue if that will happen or not, but if it does I won't mind since I will have made over what the reserve price would have been, even if I'd had to pay for shipping myself. Given the current prices of coticules, it would not be an unrealistic expectation even if it was not a combo.
At the very least, it should start the bidding and get things going.
thanks again.Last edited by Bruno; 08-21-2012 at 12:26 PM.

Thanked: 109My very limited experience with selling shaving stuff on Ebay has taught me the summer is a slow time. I have listed and then removed several items more than once merely for lack of views. 25 people stopping by and 3 on the watch list just isn't gonna make for a good auction. This last week things picked up and I sold two items for enough to break even and allow me buy more stuff but I believe it will be another month or two before one can expect more than 100 views for shave stuff.
The stone you listed is a beauty and a nice size to boot.

I'm ashamed at you Bruno trying to deceive the folks. You know it's not a "new" stone. It's at least millions of years old. Maybe billions.
