Default C-MON, you gotta love this

eBay score. Two minor flaws. One, there are a few small spots of rust, none on the blade though. A couple dots on the shank and tang. Probably any attempt to remove it will take the gold off as well. I can leave it alone. The other, the hinge is nice and tight but for the last 1/2 inch before it closes. At that point its very loose and will catch the scales if its not guided in. Any suggestions to fix that?

Nice blade. I've had a wonderedge and a reaper that were tight until the last 1/4 of the way to closing. I was always afraid to tighten them since when open 90 degrees and beyond they were real snug. I will be interested to see how others have dealt with this problem. In the meanwhile I did the same thing you're doing. I guided the blade in to close it.

The pivot pin is likely bent, probably from repeated attempts to tighten it. You can live with it, re-pin it, or have someone do it for you...probably needs to be a nickel-silver pin and SS washers. Proceed with caution. Fabulous razor, though.

Last two days I've been working on and shaving with a BLACK DEMON ( no idea why it's called that; nothing black on it) that does the same thing: blade looks straight; scales look ok; tight when it strop or shave with it .. But the point hits the side of the scale just as it goes in!! Thinking about Rounding it!

There's no hone wear on the spine at all. It doesn't look like it was ever used. I'm going to give it a go honing it myself since my investment was minimal. But I'll send it off to you with the next razor that needs honing.

Not bad, right? Even the box is in mint condition. I'm looking forward to taking it for a spin.
