I'm not arguing for anything conclusive, just that there's three examples in the past year, plus those from Brad and others. If you go lower to 17/16 or 8/8 there's a lot more GBs. They're rare compared to something like Wade and Butcher, but I'd argue they're common compared to select other large razors. At least as documented on the site and on google, that's the only thing I have to base off of. I'd just rather have a couple other big razors over a GB. Not that I can afford them anyway

Thanked: 1936Only way I would pay that kind of money would be for a really nice & unique custom with modern steel & then I really doubt I would pull the trigger. I don't think I have any more than $50 in any one of my choppers. Most money I will have given for a razor will be for the SRP razor & I really though long and hard on that one.
Don't get me wrong, I do like them & shave with them once and a while...but my preference is a 6/8-7/8 blade.Southeastern Oklahoma/Northeastern Texas helper. Please don't hesitate to contact me.
Thank you and God Bless, Scott

Thanked: 44I think a 7/8 partial wedge is my ideal shaver - enough weight to make me happy, and a thin enough bevel to make honing easy. But I like these things for their historical value and rarity - the big ones are rarer, so I like them better. They're also easier to sell when I need to. I almost dropped a good chunk when someone was selling a big custom called "the beast," because it was gorgeous. But it has no historical value, and so goes against the history nerd in me...
A couple years ago you could still rather easily find big choppers on ebay for $50 bucks. Now, its nearly impossible. Thankfully most of mine I didn't have to pay a terrible chunk for - I bought them right before the chopper popularity boom.

Yeah I found out about this sport way to late. I began collecting razors for a design project that I wanted to do on "gentleman" culture and then I started learning how much you can find out about razors just by studying their design and it's been love ever since. Now the razor that I researched that started the "big boy" trend for me was this one. Now coupled with their rarity and price point I have to say I love the thrill of the hunt. But I really just honestly love the way that the larger razors look. Who knows what will happen when I start shaving with them..then I'll probably be screaming for a 2/8...LOL

Wow. I have a GB 1& 5/16 that I got on ebay a while back. I'm starting to liquidate some of the razors that never made it into my rotation or fell out. The GB never made it in...it's a novelty. The coffin is wider than my iphone. I'll have to think about putting it up if that's the market for gigantic razors.
