If you like a particular brand of razor never ever post about it. At least not if you have anything good to say.

Instead say they are hard to hone ..... don't hold an edge ..... are chippy when honed ..... If you say how great the shave is you just upped the ante .

I've seen customs go to 2000$.

For vintage razors, it's just a matter of collectability. Demand vs supply. Up to 1000$ sometimes happens.
For custom razors, the price is set by the fame (and hourly rates) of the smith, the amount of work that is required, and the price of the materials involved. I think I've seen one of Larry Harley's creations on this site, which cost just below 2000$.
