    Default Giant GB Anchor

Get out the beers and lawn chairs, this one is fun to watch: Vintage Antique Straight Razor G C B w Anchor Mark Horn Handle 1 4" Spine | eBay

I was expecting a final price of somewhere around 600, but man that blew up fast. Looks to be full 11/8 though. These things have been coming out of the woodwork recently.

I saw that, unbelievable. I sometimes wonder if the seller gets paid when they get ridiculously high like that.

As looking at the bid history, two are going at it, driving the price up unreasonably. One will surely have buyers remorse. Or a divorce!

I am one of the people bidding on this razor. I have not seen a GB for quite sometime and the last one sold for around 650+. There is also another GB for sale on eBay that seems in much better condition. Can anyone offer some advise on which one is the better of the two. I have wanted one for a while. I currently have four Wade & Butcher razors in my collection and thought the GB would be a perfect addition.

They're both pretty comparable IMO. They will both hone up and shave fine. The second might take a little longer to hone because of the chips. As far as better, that's all down to personal preference. Structurally I'd say they're pretty much even.

Thank you for the reply. The second razor seems to have the stamp on the tang much clearer. You can see the cross, the GB, and the anchor. The first one is vary faint. Does that matter as far as value?

As you can see from the ebay auctions of GBs alone, value is highly subjective. Maybe some people like a more defined stamp, and will pay more for a particular razor, but who knows. You can only hope those people aren't bidding on the razor you want.

(obligatory comment about not discussing value on the forums as well)
