Thanked: 18Yes, I was bidding on, come on guys, for a 6 x 1 1/2 . Early today a 10x2 Escher with sticker was sold for less. You could never have a better edge from a coticule vs Escher. But the remarks from others make us believing those stones are magic. I have one, and is just a better coticule, but 700 better, absolutely no. I hope who get it will enjoy every shave from that stone. For me, what start as a economic shaving mode, 3 years ago, it became a luxury market. 1k razors, 700 coticule and so on.

Thanked: 1587I'm so very glad I never caught the coticule bug. The decimal point on that price is one digit too far to the right as far as I am concerned, but good luck to whoever the lucky winner is.

I had one that was 5x2 1/2 or maybe it was 6", don't recall. Box, everything. I think I sold it for $250 ? Not sure, good stone but nothing to write home about. There is a guy who used to be on this forum but left to start his own. He had a lot of things to say about that specific brand being the best coticule. I never found it so but different strokes for different folks.

Thanked: 1587I don't want to start some "Coti War" here, but even if that is the "best" coticule brand, the issue still remains for me that you are talking about something I would consider a pre polishing stone.
I guess I am perhaps missing something with regards coticules in general - I've had a few but by no means very many - perhaps I am just ignorant of the kinds of edges they can produce. But as it sits at the moment, whenever I read anything about coticules as a final finisher I just think of that old fairy tale: The Emperor's New Clothes.

Thanked: 3227Makes me think of PT Barnum, I think it was anyway, something about one born every minute. Couple that with straights being popular now and presto.

IME there is no way. I haven't tried them all but I've tried a good many. I liked, and still like some, but never found one to come close to that. I think that is pure hype. Not saying someone who says that doesn't believe it ....... just that they are either sadly mistaken or allowing wishful thinking to control their judgment.
