Interesting. I knew it was extremely rare but had no idea it was actually extinct.

It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

Are many woods that no longer exsist, are many woods we think are common today that can no longer be imported.
I have seen the cost of exotics triple in the past year.
4 mos. ago african blackwood was $18 a stick (2x2x12) today it is $38 w'sale. all the ebonys are off the charts as are the dalbergias.
Have been on a wood buying binge for the past few yrs,but when it is gone,it is gone forever.
Going to bight the bullit and make a Coromandel Brush handle later today, will be a small one

The woodworker's dilemma: our passion for the material is part of (and admittedly a very small part in some cases) the cause of its demise.

Looking forward to seeing the brush!

    Sorry... have wandered a bit

That beautiful wood just beckons to be turned into a beautiful brush handle or razor scales. I say go for it!

I'm sorry it went deeper than my pockets, although I didn't have much of a chance, I really wanted that box, the razors were simply going to be a bonus.
