Thread: Handsome 7 day set

Sets tend to go for a lot of money only if they are new from TI or Dovo where the high prices are set by the manufacturer. With vintage razors all the cheapos decrease the value of the gems as well.
But, I think the biggest factor is that people shopping on ebay tend to put much higher premium on their money than on their time.
BTW that box looks so familiar - I have one for a 7-day rodgerses with ivory tangs and scales that had the exact same design down to the engraving plaque - don't remember the wood pattern but seemed similar.

Thanked: 4827I thought it would go double what it did. I guess there is something to be said for saving up just incase something good comes along. When I saw that and knew I had blown most of my budget already, I also knew I wouldn't last until the end, close but not quite. I hope they went to someone really nice that will love them and perhaps show them, maybe even in someones law office.

Thanked: 4827I have. However my struggle with that set is, they are NOS and I HAVE to shave with them. It's part of my compulsive behavior. Not sure if that would be a wise choice for me or not. I look at them once a week most of the time. Seven day set in gorgeous boxes. It's one of those things.

I couldn't agree more - hence the "very small part" I attributed to woodworkers.
As for the climatalogical situation, one only has to look at the devastation wrought in Western NA by the pine bark beetle. Milder winters reduced the beetles' mortality that would normally have been caused by cold winters, which led to a huge increase in numbers of beetles which in turn led to massive areas of coniferous forest being essentially wiped out.
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

Thanked: 2027Make a quik buck is correct,Sadley most of the worlds great woods grow in impoverished countrys, and like africas elephant Ivory the source is being desimated,Is all about money.
Most of the great woods take hundreds of yrs to mature into lumber and unlike teak cannot be plantation grown.
When it is gone it will be gone for ever
