    Default Buying from Classicshaving

I looked for an answer to this question but could not find one and apologize for the new post.

If you buy a razor from classicshaving are you able to pay an addiitonal $20 to have it honed and shave ready prior to shipping or do you have to wait to receive the razor and then immediately ship it back for honing services?

Also, what is the difference between a Norton and Thuringen stone? Or are they both good and it is a matter of preference?

    Thanks in advance.

I believe that the razor will be sent right to Lynn for honing.

As I understand it, Norton stones are good stone for maintaining edges and the Thurigens are mainly used to put a finer polish on the edge.

Norton is a man made, Thuringen is natural stone.

There is a link on the left called "Razor Sharpening Service", just click on it. I pay by PayPal and so there is a space for notes where you can state the razor that you want honed. Buy the razor and the service at the same time. They will then ship the razor to Lynn Abrams directly and when it is honed, Lynn will ship it to you. I just did this and it works great!

Steve's right about the hones. A Norton is the basic meat-and-potatoes stone most of us use. The Thuringen will give you some extra smoothness and sharpness--it's the gravy.
