Amen to no SRs when "shaky", and very glad you were OK.

Many years ago I was hit a glancing blow while on a Triumph 650. I was young and skin grew back quickly. However, that winter when it got very cold and sometimes slick, I sold out and have been on 4 wheels surrounded by car or truck bodies ever since.

Thanks for the concern. It was a minor dust up, but I should definitely have been more aware of the state of my throttle cable. Smarter next time, I guess.

It is a good idea to keep all cables lubed. It helps & afterward you can tell the difference. I use a home made attachment for my spray oil can with a needle inserted into the tobing & when I take the cable housings loose, I have access to the cables & I lube them that way for a few times until I know it is coming out the other end. It makes a big difference. You might check that cable to make sure it isn't frayed anywhere. It isn't your fault, things like that can happen, especially when you least expect it & then when it happens you just have less than a second to make a decision but try to cut off the machine if possible if it ever happens again or if you have a clutch, pull in on the clutch & hit the brakes. We want you to stay around & post more comments, we don't want to lose you my friend. Also be aware of what is around you at all times so that you can have an escape route in mind.Good luck & I'm glad you are still with us.It could have been disastrous.

    Shave #121.7 - The Agony

So my wife has been in Canada on business for the last 2 weeks, and I have had my lazy butt on the sofa watching TV and smoking cigars for 2 weeks, only occasionally moving to get a fresh beer or snack. This morning I decided enough was enough, and headed out for my normal morning bicycle ride. Oh boy, talk about losing your wind - something in my recent lifestyle definitely took the edge off my conditioning. I really suffered this morning.

When I got back I just stumbled into the shower and sat in the tub and sprayed myself with cold water for a good long time. As you might guess, this is the exact situation that the PWSS was designed for.

    Proraso Green Shave Cream
    TOBS Badger Brush
    Mach III

It made me feel human again.

    Shave #121.8 - New Playthings

My wife is back from Canada, while there she stopped by my parents, where she picked up a package I had sent myself from the Italian Barber. So, I have a few new things...

RazoRock Captain's Choice Bay Rum Shave Soap
Limited Edition 2012 Semogue (Boar) Brush
    Edwin Jagger DE89L + Personna Precision (3)
    Captain's Choice Bay Rum

I really wanted to shave with my DOVO, but the wife is in the bedroom sleeping off her jet lag, and I can't get to my straights. Still, the allure of my new toys was irresistible, so it was a DE shave today. Everything performed admirably, the new soap was nice and the brush worked great straight out of the box. It had a bit of a dead cat smell, but was not too scritchy, nice back bone, and just plain worked great. I'm sure it will be awesome when it is actually broken in.

I did a 4-pass shave. My first 4-passer with a DE. I have a very comfortable BBS and I like the new toys that I have tried so far. I have a few more things to try yet.

    Shave #122 - Disappointing Shave

I have a friend coming over for a few drinks and some chess, so I thought I'd grab an afternoon shave before he arrived. Mistake.

Petal Pushers Fancy (PPF) Sandalwood Shave Soap
    Semogue 2012
    DOVO Palisander 6/8" (49)
    Captain's Choice Bay Rum

You see, it is still hot here, and the air conditioning does not reach my shave cubbyhole. So, I had planned to do a nice relaxing 3 or 4 passer, but the shave got rained/sweated out. By the end of my first pass I could see sweat was beginning to be an issue, causing the lather to float above my skin on a layer of sweat. As I began pass #2, I decided to abort as I was losing lubrication. It was just sweating away.

I ended up with a rather poor quality 2-passer. I look okay, but I can feel plenty of stubble. At best, I have a SAS.

But, you'll notice I brought out another new soap, more bounty from the wife's travels. I now have a pretty nice selection of soap scents in my shave cabinet: Synergy Cavendish (sweet tobacco); Synergy Lime (key lime pie); Tabac Original (a 1970's pornstar's cologne); PPF Sandalwood; QCS Vostok (peppermint and menthol); QCS Celestial Forest (tallow, yuck); C&E West Indian Lime (spicy lime); RazoRock Bay Rum; Proraso Green (menthol); L'Occitane Cade (clean soapy smell, hints of green woods, juniper, thistle); and, Klar Seifen (light dusty rose).

I'm pretty sure today's sub-par shave was not the soap's fault.

    Shave #122.1 - Ahh, That's Better

    Proraso Green Pre/Post Shave
C&E West Indian Lime Shave Cream
    Semogue 2012
    Edwin Jagger DE89L + Personna Precision (4)
    Hulk's Smash

My normal 3 passes on the face, 4 on the neck and a smidgen of clean up finds me BBS.

I'm beginning to settle into work after the end of summer vacation. I need to start trying to get more regular about my shave routine again. It is hard to kick the laziness habit.
