Looked on eBay, there are a few arko creams but none of them look like the Soap stick ie red with a foamy beard man, so unsure if the scent is the same, with the obvious exception of the one called ice mint or something similar, will try to do some more research, or I could just buy a stick, though I don't need any soap and a stick costs about $5 the same.as the tubes of cream.

I also use Crabtree and Evelyn and TBS maca root, fauldings is the least good for uberlather, but not by a great deal. The biggest issue I have with it is the scent. The musgo is $20, which is about the same price as C&E, but I think the tube may be a bit smaller.
Hopefully it will turn up before I go on R&R or it will be two weeks till I get it.

Unfortunately my face didn't like tbs macca root. Before switching to Sr the best I found was king of shave oil. My face also tells me it doesn't like aloe vera products. Also found using hot shave causing more irritation. Since going cold has been much better.

I've tried a lot of Arko cream tubes over the past 2 years. None of them had the red color with foamy beard man on it. I bought mine from a site in Turkey called BestShave.

Arko used to make a cream called Citrus, which has a great scent, but they seem to have stopped making it. I only have a bit of this Citrus left over, so I ended up getting Derby Lemon as a replacement.

Used the KOS menthol oil a few times and absolutely hated it, like the macca root, but TBS is owned by l'oreal which is part owned by Nestle, who are or at least were last I checked pretty ethically dubious. See the baby milk action site. This was a detail I had forgotten about the company until my wife reminded me. So no more of that one, which does mean I can branch out.

Henryconchile, is the Derby cream good? Does the lemon smell like lemon or lemon cleaning product?

Oh. Yes, its the VHD deluxe shave soap. I'm glad to hear its good stuff. Pretty cheap at the big W.
If you can't get VHD dialed in (never tried it myself), Tabac soap and Proraso cream are easy to lather. With Proraso, if you didn't use enough product vs. water, it's really easy to add more, especially if you're using a bowl. Here is how I lather (using Mitchells Wool Fat)...soak brush, shake out 90% of water, swirl on cake letting excess drip into another bowl. If there is no excess you need more water...add 5-10 drops. Build up a plum sized amount in mixing bowl. Wipe brush on rim of mixing bowl...reload. Go to bowl and mix like crazy. Takes less than 90 seconds to build a great lather. Everyone has different methods for lathering, like others have said get a soap of your choice and experiment with it.

It has a light, lemon scent. It isn't potent like lemon scented cleaners. (I hate lemon scented cleaners because I can't stand the smell.) Overall, the scent is good. I only smell it while lathering, not while shaving.
