I don't ever go against the grain even with my DE. My skin is very sensitive and I am prone to ingrown hairs. Also I have to watch what soaps I use and can only shave with room temperature or my face will break out. I bought some TOBS Sandlewood shave cream only to discover that I was allergic to it. To tell the truth, most of the time I shave strictly with cold water. On another note, my lather was a bit on the runny side. I was using my new silver tip brush and it holds much more water than my tweezerman brush. I will definetly have to pay more attention to my shave angle and pressure though. I knew as soon as I did my touch up pass with my DE that I had been pressing harder with the straight than I do with my DE. Thanks for all of the input.

    Welcome, turkeyman79!

Do you have hard water? If so, try some bottled water. Also, make some uberlather(buy some glycerin from walmart and put a couple drops in you scuttle or on your soap puck, both...)

Also, I use shave oil. You might give it a try. also available at walmart. I've shaved with it alone. It's pretty non-alergenic, I think. Eucalyptis(sp?) and menthol plus other junk.

    Just an idea.

Hold fast! Success is around the corner.

I have started putting the water into my lather mixing bowl, which my soap lives in the bottom of, and then use a dry brush to mix it all together, it gives me more control of the ratios.

Interesting, Ed. I soap my puck in the scuttle in hot water until I am finished with my shower. I then empty the bowl almost completely. Few drops of glycerin and fire up the squeeze dried brush which also soaked in the hot water.

    Kind Regards,
    Siguy

Siguy, I put in one capful of bottled water, along with a blob of cream and glycerin in, also all the old lather from my brush goes back in the bowl too. It is usually still almost useable the next day but I dump in new ingredients anyway.

I'm going to simulate that with a soap puck right now. Cap full of bottled(check that. 3 caps full. You had cream, I have soap, Musgo to boot), dry brush, few drop of glycerin.
