Default By gosh, I think I'm getting it!

Just had another great FULL FACE shave, this time with my R. Aust 5/8, DR Harris cream and hot towels. Got all the angles right, no nicks, no cuts, and a great feel. Several scything passes.

That's 2 in 2 days with different straights...yesterday was my Dovo. After 5 months, I think I have a breakthrough.

Followed the shave with a little splash of witch hazel, then The Shave Den's vanilla bourbon after shave. Happy, happy, happy!

Congratulations! Maybe there's hope for me yet. Have been at it off and on for about 6 or 8 months and still manage to nick myself pretty good.

You said you did severe scything passes -- were these all with the grain?

    Congrat's and keep it up!
I'm sure in a few weeks from now you'll look back and say, "Those October shaves were great...but only so-so to the one I just had!"
You'll still find room for improvement as the weeks go by...

Nice! It comes when it comes. And don't forget two shaves in four or five days. Taller timber seems to make for still easier, cleaner shaves.

    GJDM.

When I first started using a real straight, I had a few issues because I thought that machine honed meant shave-ready.
After getting it honed, I still remember feeling the razor glide down my face, and hearing the sound of a full hollow blade cut through hairs for the first time.

How many times have you cut yourself with it?
