Thanked: 15PSA: Beard reduction
Just someting for the newer guys, as it has been told to be, Shaving is all about beard reduction. Dont focus on getting BBS in 3 passes it will come with time. I revisited this advise last night and had a much better shave it took around 6 passes in different directions to get through the steel that is my beard but 15 hours and still smooth.

I never chase the BBS. 2 passes WTG & ATG are my limit. After that my skin starts to fight back. If I missed something I'll get it next time.
Keep your concentration high and your angles low!
Despite the high cost of living, it's still very popular.

I found for me that comfort was more important than looks, so less passes suited me.

I would agree with the previous posts, six passes seems a bit excessive. I can usually get an exceptable shave using a sharp straight and good technique with one or two WTG passes.

A man should only look in the mirror when he shaves.

Thanked: 603Stop arguing! You're both right.
But seriously: six passes? Really? Every shave for me is a 3-pass shave -- WTG, ATG, and XTG. My belief is that between the razor and one's technique, if you can come away from 3-passes with a DFS, that's great; and, with a little more work on the blade, and a little more work on one's form, that BBS shave will be there. My suggestion? Hold off a bit on tweaking the blade, and put in some extra time on technique. I continue to find that having to work to get a DFS from a razor that's not-quite-there will "guarantee" getting a BBS from a razor that's dialed-in.
Smooth shaving! You can have everything, and still not have enough.
I'd give it all up, for just a little more.

Thanked: 247It's all about preparation for me. Weather it's 1 day growth or 1 week of growth, proper prep and 2 passes (with touch ups if I'm chasing BBS).
My face could probably handle 6 passes, but with proper prep of my face and the blade it s not necessary.
