Thanked: 154My go-to setup: Hot water splash to soften the whiskers. AoS unscented cream, face-lathered with plastic-handled AoS pure badger brush. Shave with DOVO stainless straight razor sporting imitation mother-of-pearl scales. Rinse with warm water, followed by a drop or two of AoS unscented balm. Heaven.

I Guess that somethings change, and some just don't. Cold water, for me that is a staple. Prep to finish. But things like razors, brushes and cream/ soaps, and even technique change up and morph in to what we do.
Lately:
TGQ Blackberry Sage and Porrasso cream- Face lather
28mm Silver tip knot w 54mm loft.
Bengal 6/8 spike on 60/ denim (old jeans).
and a hot cup of tea.

Hot shower, AoS sandalwood pre shave, shaving cream and lotion. Dovo ebony (my first razor so I am partial). Don't use all this very often but it's my favorite

Mine almost always consists of a post shave witch-hazel splash beyond that.....
Now granted I can get on a kick where I will use the same razor for a week or so,
but even that is subject to change on a shaves notice...It is just Whisker Whacking
Relax and Enjoy!

Thanked: 1184I guess I am a foul animal lover. After 2 hot wash cloth face soaks I grab a Duck brush (m3 with a g nib black badger) swirl it around on some Mama Bear's and lather up. Then I grab another Duck (razor this time) and go to town. When I am done everybody gets a bath and towel dry and I get a splash of Channel Blue after shave or balm to seal the deal and away I go.
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

Perhaps you could make your own soap that uses duck fat as a base, and rub some duck feather oil on your face after as a post shave, you wouldn't even have to kill that one you could just pick it up and rub the duck on your face. Obviously the duck fat would require some deading of a duck, unless you started a liposuction clinic for ducks.
Bread and water can so easily become tea and toast

my routine is very simple a 6/8 bresnick square point razor, a shavemac#177 brush and floris elite soap. I shave after my shower so that accounts for the beard prep.
when the razor gets dull I switch to a similar one and I switch soaps every month... next month is tabac sometimes I switch to a different shavemac brush but not too often.
