Thread: Price range for starter kit?

You can expect to pay between $100 - $200 for a good set.
WhippedDog has good inexpensive gear, while Straight Razor Designs has better gear at a higher price.
If you want to piece a kit together, the classifieds section in the forum generally has good deals.

You will need, at a minimum a razor ($40 - $80), strop, soap and brush. A mug would also be nice, but you can use a coffee cup or small bowl from your kitchen (I use covered sugar bowls from WalMart at about $2.50).

There are other good sites to get gear from; generally any site that advertises on this forum is reputable. If you find a different site, you may want to ask here about whether or not it is reputable. I have been bitten by a less than reputable site by not following my own advice.
