Will agree the Ralf Aust is a grest razor but many vintage razors of great makers can be had cheap with a bit of time and patience and I do find myself getting these. That said the only new razor I own is a Ralf Aust.
My wife calls me......... Can you just use Ed

Thanked: 2Thank you everyone for your replies. Iv been considering looking for a vintage blade just to add to the old school feeling of straight razor shaving. What should I look for in a vintage blade and what sizes should I look for. Does the way a blade is honed make a difference for shaving such as wedge or full and half hollowed.
Thanks, Drew

I don't have any business affiliation with Revisor. I feel I need to say that because I am always suggesting one to someone. But I just honed one up late last week and it took a magnificent edge. I really like their offerings and find that they are great value. For someone looking for a new razor, Revisor is a good option because they offer a nice variety. 5/8 all the way up to 8/8. Square tip, round, French, or Spanish. Ones with shoulders, ones without. But the important thing is that they are really nice blades that shave great. I suppose you can say that about others as well. My other suggestion would be a TI. The two I own are great razors but heavier grinds and far more expensive.

One more vote for going vintage from the SRP classified section... better deals than buying new.

Don't buy anything used (or new) from anyone who doesn't SR shave and/or doesn't offer you a full-value refund if you're not delighted with the razor.
Until you've been at it a while and are up to at least 3 or 5 razors (and thinking of hones), it might be best to leave the risk-taking to us other nutz. There'll be plenty of time for that later.Buttery Goodness is the Grail
