As has been stated all properly sharpened blades will deliver a close comfortable shave in practiced hands.
Beyond that it has to do with personal preference.
My preference has changed over time and I enjoy the differences in the feel of using a variety of sizes and grinds.
That said if you “Need to hear some feed back” then the full and extra hollows are the way to go…It is just Whisker Whacking
Relax and Enjoy!

Thanked: 3226Properly honed they shave as well as any other grind. They sound and feel a bit different in use but that is about all I see in it.

Thanked: 4827My extra hollow bit me quite a bit when I first started so I switched to a half hollow. After about six months of technique perfecting The extra hollow was delivering great shaves. So for me as long as I was on top of my shave it was great.

My rotation has at least one of each grind except the bellied hollow. I enjoy listening to how each grind "sings" when I shave with it. I have compared the extra hollow to listening to a soprano, all the way down to the basso profundo of a true wedge. And they all tell me in no uncertain terms when I am not listening closely to them.
I would hope that there is a sound engineer among the SRP members that could record the song of each grind and get it in the hands of a composer to compose a "Sonata of Straight Razors"."The sharpening stones from time to time provide officers with gasoline."

Thanked: 603I "Just say 'No!'" to full-hollow ground razors. They scare the heck out of me, and if I don't end-up cutting/nicking myself, I do end-up with a much-less-than satisfactory shave (quality and experience). Nope, in descending order, I prefer near-wedge, quarter-hollow, and half-hollow (5/8-to-6/8, in size).
Smooth shaving!Last edited by JBHoren; 03-12-2014 at 11:50 PM. Reason: punctuation
You can have everything, and still not have enough.
I'd give it all up, for just a little more.
