Thanked: 0i think i need an intervention....
in the one month since i began straight shaving i have gotten a little out of control. here are all of the things i've purchased in that time....
norpro "scuttle", bigelow shave cream, pinaud bay rum aftershave, 1.5 oz mama bear bay rum soap, mike's natural bay rum soap
whipped dog poor man's strop kit, star shaving big daddy strop
2 x dovo 6/8 best quality with blond scales (one still sealed from SRD), 6/8 dovo bismarck with pearl scales, 5/8 dovo inox with pearlex scales
there have been days that i have been sweating bullets waiting for the mail hoping it gets here before my wife does. pretty sure if she knew all the stuff i bought i'd need a new place to sleep! how long did it take you guys to go "off the deep end" if you did? did you get carried away at the beginning or was it more gradual?

I think you are asking the wrong folks. One doesn't ask for an intervention of the dealers and fellow addicts, nothing good can come of it.
Nice post, Carl. 2 years later and I am sure that the savings account is practically bulging with the money saved by moving to a straight.Gerry

Thanked: 20To take my wifes mind off of what I am buying (hone, razor, strop, soap) I buy her shoes, woman with new shoes doesn't think about much else. I have slowed down a lot of the last few years, and now she asks why we haven't gone shoe shopping in a while.

Thanked: 443Have it shipped to work, silly! Jeez.
And anyway, I don't see anything wrong here."These aren't the droids you're looking for." "These aren't the droids we're looking for." "He can go about his business." "You can go about your business."

Thanked: 443Ahh, Carl, I don't remember that thread but it made me laugh out loud just now.
Gentle non-Carl readers (that is, gentle readers who are not Carl), you should also know that in his early posts here Carl was on a quest for a two-razor sheath, because he was certain he'd never have more than two razors. Or was it a three-razor sheath, because he was certain he'd never have more than three razors? I just remember that he was quite strenuously certain he'd be able to count his collection on a really careless woodworker's hand. That's when we knew he'd be a special addition to our community.
Carl, I think you deserve your own acronym: CMS. Yeah, it only saves one letter, but it's got the cool factor. "Does CMS shave XTG, or only WTG and maybe ATG? Does CMS's tap water play well with MWF?" See, doesn't that feel cool?
WWCMSD?"These aren't the droids you're looking for." "These aren't the droids we're looking for." "He can go about his business." "You can go about your business."
