I've got the radio shack micro. I can truly say it is about the best $10 I've spent on anything shaving related, except maybe Colleen's Black Cavendish soap. The optics are good enough where you won't even say, 'they're good for the money'. They're simply good. You can carry a 100x mag with you in your pocket anywhere you go, and it's got a nice light to boot. So, if you're in the bowels of some antique barn crawling through spiders webs, you can still check out the edge you're interested in. - John

I would agree, this is all stuff that was laying around my shed so didn't cost me a cent this time around. I would have had to go out and buy a microscope.

Are these pretty well much the same as the radio shack ones? As I don't have access to either of them I have to make up my mind which one to buy.

    Thanks

John, trust me, my Radio Shack $10 jobbie works great. Far better than you'd imagine and for $10, you can't go wrong. - John

    Hello John,

I have looked here at Tandy's which I think is the equivalent to your Radio Shack, but no we do not have them here. So I will have to buy one from elsewhere, and I was just curious if these two were in fact very similar.

I've found that some radio shacks did not even know they had these, as they are often kept in rather plain boxes behind the cash register with other trinkets. Might be better to ask for it by model number, which can be had from their website.
2 stores that previously didn't know what i was talking about produced one right away.

    John,

I looked up your Tandy stores site and did a search for microscopes and a std. style microscope came up. I also checked by Radio Shack catalog number and nothing came up.

I find it interesting that you don't have Radio Shack, but have Tandys. I've spent allot of time in Radio Shacks in my days (I'm an engineer. It's like a candy store for us), and their 'store brand' was always Tandy. I had Tandy video games, electronic meters and components of various types. I had no idea they came from a company merger (it did, I just read it on the Radio Shack website).

Anyway, it appears they're divested now, so Tandy and Radio Shack are no longer related. Regardless, if you need/want one, I'd be happy to pick one up for you here and mail it. It looks like US Postal Global Priority Mail is US $5.25 and the microscope is US $9.99. If you'd like, you can Paypal the money to me, and I can ship one out to you.

    The total would be as follows;

    USD 9.99 microscope
+ USD 0.70 tax in my state, Rhode Island
    + USD 5.25 postage
    -----------------
    USD 15.94 subtotal

+ USD 0.92 Paypal fee I'll get charged to receive money 3.9% + USD 0.30
    -----------------
    USD 16.86 USD total

    convert to Australian dollars

AUD $21.52 amount to Paypal to me in AUD.

Of course you'd have to trust me, so it's your call. Let me know if you'd like me to do it for you. I'm happy to help an SRP member. My paypal email is
    awkshinear@mac.com

    Cheers mate,
    John
