My reading comprehension skills seem to be lacking, you are quite correct. $50 for a Gold Dollar, is scandalous (IMHO) and given the choice between that and the Dovo, the suggestion has merit. Apologies for jumping to conclusions.

Just bought and received this "shave ready" gold dollar off eBay...
It is a great shaver! 4 passes, right out of the box!! Very nice shave. The guy does great work!
By the way it's one of Jeff Pratt's.

I too ordered a Jeff Pratt Gd and two other ones from another vendor. I have no plans on shaving with them but his will be a benchmark and the other two will be what I use to learn to hone on.
I have a new dovo from Lynn and several shave ready vintage razors now but I don't want to mess any of them up trying to learn. So in my mind these are the cheapest option.Last edited by nodakjohns; 05-07-2014 at 03:07 AM. Reason: added info
