Welcome and thank you for your service. If you have not yet purchased a SR, DON'T, PM me an address and I will send you a shave ready razor gratis in appreciation for your service. You will need a strop and shaving accoutrements to go with it.

Thanked: 52Welcome to SRP this is the most helpful, friendly and generous bunch of guys you will ever run into, just ask and the answers will come. I'm am a fairly new str8 shaver myself and your question about a meetup is on point. If you can get to one where you are at do so it will put you lightyears ahead of the normal learning curve. There's nothing like having experienced guys help you figure this stuff out first hand, I was able to find a meetup my first week and it was amazing. Drove 3 hours to get there and would do it again right now if there was one going on. Another great experience is to see if there is a mentor close by that will meet with you for a day of helpful instruction, it's another way to connect with this group and hone those essential skills that will bring you a much more enjoyable journey into straight razor shaving. When you get settled in at Ft. Lewis in the fall shoot me a PM and come over, I will gladly help you any way I can I live close to that base. Thank you for your service to our country and have fun shaving. All the best Frank C

Sergeant, I have a razor picked out for you, it is a "Barbers Pet" made by ERN but I need to make a set of scales for it. I think I should be able to get my hands on some dear antler and make up a really nice SR for you but it is going to take me some time to finish it, I hope that will work for you. If not, I have a couple of other SR's that I could just clean up and hone for you.

Welcome. It's always good to see another vet here.

Quick update, today was my first SR shave. ... I almost shaved all my face. ... I don't know if it was good or not, I'm not sure how tojudge the shave, but it was fun. ...
