Default Homebrew dude - new to the proper shave

Never put too much thought in shaving.
Gillette Mach type razors, and an electric for on the lip.
Electric never worked on my neck, otherwise I would be all electric.

For my 38th birthday, decided to splurge..
Bought the latest Shick, blades and was searching for some better shaving cream.
Ran across some reviews of Proraso Shaving Cream on amazon.
More and more reading... Already ordered the other stuff, came in the mail today.

    So I ordered this also
Edwin Jagger DE89LBL, and assortment of blades
Edwin Jagger 81SB356 pure badger shaving brush <-- was this worth the money? Or is there better?
    Prosaso aftershave cream
    Buffalo Horn 3.5 shave bowl
GBS stainless bowl -- recieved this today, not impressed.

Looks like I have 1/2 the items to return. Hopefully I will keep the safety razor!

Welcome, sir! To the SRP bruthahood!

Proraso is excellent stuff! You are on the journey now, my friend.

Do yourself a favor and read up. Start at in the Beginner's section with the stickies and there are lots of shaving videos to be found.

Before you know it, you'll have a straight razor arriving at the door

    cheers

    Welcome to SRP!
The Library is full of information and if you have any questions just ask. There are plenty of helpful people here.
Looks like you forgot to get a styptic pencil though...

Will I regret the Edwin Jagger DEL89LBL purchase? Buyers remorse.

Still need to splurge on a nice bowl...
Been reading about all the different soaps also.

Shaved with my old Gillette Mach 3 and the new shave cream. I could tell a difference!
First time I could shave the lip without discomfort

The aftershave I got was lotion. I was expecting the liquid type splash stuff. More stuff to try.

Big coffee mug better than stainless steel bowl for for building lather. Razor is fine. Assortment of blade lets you find the one that works for you. a large number of members shave with a DE only. Some prefer a shavette, some a SE and a lot, like me, have, possibly, one of each kind (including the crap multi blade scrappers - ya never know) and enjoy variety and switching back and forth between types. As you go you will find your niche and enjoy the heck out of it.

Welcome to a fun forum filled with a lot of info. Don't find an answer, ask. There are plenty of answers.

Can't argue on the coffee mug, but would like to splurge. My Barber shaves my knock with hit lather. Would like to do the same.

Welcome. The search button works well for researching items before you buy. It saves on returning

Then look up scuttles. One or two piece bowls with a chamber for hot water to keep the lather bowl warm. A number of big companies and a lot of artisans that produce hand built versions. Even a nice one, reasonably priced from Portugal. Search "scuttles" at the top of the page.

he safety razor you bought is still a god purchase. You can stick with that and learn the preparation and multiple pass beard reduction aspect with the safety and if you feel like it, can then try out a straight..... Or you can get a straight and jump in with both feet. No wrong answers.

Hi and welcome. Can't help with your questions but a search usually finds all the info you need and will let you make informed decisions when purchasing. Good luck and any questions feel free to ask. .
