I tried explaining to my wife in the deepest baritone I could muster, is that SR shaving is more of an experience than a chore. From the feel of the hot towel on your face, to the smell of your preshave. The sound of the razor on the strop. Will you use a soap or a cream. Hot scuttle or cold, or do a face lather and no scuttle at all. Then there's the the fragrance of your shaving lather and the feel of your brush as you apply it. That first pass of your razor, while you try to remember everything you've learned from previous shaves. I tried to explain this was the reason I was looking at more samples of soaps and creams. Even though there are several that I have but haven't tried yet. It's about the whole experience, I said. She just gave me the deer in the headlights look and nodded.
So the S.L.A.M. addiction is well under way. VIVE LE RASOIR
