I think that you would have better results if you put your own set together. The DE set that I purchased was fair, but the brush was mushy. The first thing that I did was replace the brush with one that had a lot more backbone.
A Thiers-Issard round point razor would be a good starter razor and most shaving soaps are pretty good these days. There are several threads on the SRP, for recommended brushes, soaps and strops. Just a thought, good luck with your search.Regards;

I will add another vote for srd. I did a fair amount of research and found that the prices were competative even with shipping added. You will receive a shave ready razor and can customise the kit to what siuts you and all the items will be quality kit that will last. Shipping is fast and customer service is excellent.
