Default First Shave With No Touch Up After

Kind of lost track of how many shaves I've done with a straight but it is probably only about 21. Today, I did my first shave without doing any touch ups with my cartridge afterwards. Boy does that feel good.

The cartridge will go into the closet now, no more crutch.

As the McDonalds add says "I'm loving it".

Obviously still learning, but improving and learning more everyday.

Thanks to all here that have helped me so far.

I shaved with my new straight about three times touching up with cartridge afterwards. Then I finally threw my cartridge away so there would be no more excuses. I've come to realize that straight shaving is a progression, a first pass, then assess, another pass, assess. It takes me about 3-4 passes before I get down to nothing left that needs attention. There is always that little place beneath my jaw or next to my adams apple that isn't as close as it could be, but maybe my technique will improve with time and I'll get there. At any rate, it's never like the vids of the guys straight shaving one, two, or three passes and that's that. I'm about as far into this as you are, so hang in there.
If I told you I was a liar, would you believe me?

Oh, and I forgot to mention the money I've saved in the past month. If I add up the razors, strops, skuttles, hones, etc. I could have only bought about 40 mega packs of cartridges.

    Good for you.
I am new to this so it's a long slow learning process.

I really believe that we never stop learning about this part of our lives. I've been at this with nothing but a straight since 2013 and still learning. The hardest part for me was the angle of the blade to the face and in the last few months it's getting easier. I'm a one handed shaver and you would think that the opposite side would be the hardest but it's not . I'm right handed and it's the right side which gives the problem. So what i'm saying is to hang in there. It'll get better and better. As little as you think about it it's the learning that's the most fun. If it wasn't for the challenge and this web site with the fellowship with all here it wouldn't be fun. Enjoy and keep trying the new creams soaps blades or techniques even restoring blades brushes or what ever floats your boat.

Congrats apipeguy. Find a bin for those cartridges and never allow them into your shave den ever again!
