I just stopped using my Fu$ion, Mach3 and DE blades/razors but didn't throw them out. I sold a couple of the DE razors on B&B though. I still have a Fu$ion handle and a Mach3 handle around somewhere, my girlfriend uses them for her legs, and when the cartridges are all used up the handles will probably go in the bin and she's going to use a nice 1960's lady Gillette DE I bought her.
No need to go cold turkey IMO.

Thanked: 0Yeah same here - I still have the old mach 3's in the cabinet. I just decided right form the beginning that I was going to shave with a straight, and after the first 3 or 4 tentative shaves around the edge of the face, just dove straight in and never looked back. As soon as you loose the fear (but not the respect) its all very natural.

When I left the UK I brought 2 straights, a shavette and a DE. Then Bruno sent me 2 more straights I sent to him for honing. I have only had to use the backups once or twice, when I really didn't have time for a full strop and 3 passes. I wouldn't use them unless I had to.
I kept them with me in case I ruin the edges on my razors and therefore cannot use them I will still be able to shave, as I am not 100% on using the polish hones I have here at the moment.
It seemed like a logical step for me in a foreign country, where finding supplies isn't the easiest thing to do.

well...
I still have the muck3 and the can of crud...
they're in the dash bag (as in grab the bag and dash) for when I need to fly somewhere at SHORT notice...
we can all envisage the grief from a renta-cop at the airport over a straight razor in the carry on...
