    Default Third week newbie

After three weeks of shaving with a vintage razor my wife got me a new Boker King Cutter for Christmas. By now I have been able to do my dominate side done without a problem and moved on to my other side. I have been able to get most of my non dominate side with only a couple of weepers. My chin is the most difficult. It seems my beard grows in different directions. I think I am finally getting that down too. I must say the Boker with a full hollow grind is different. My confidence has grown considerably. This morning on my non-dominate side some how I had a little tug on my hand. I don't know exactly how it happened but I know exactly what I did and it sliced off a big chunk of skin on my cheek next to my mouth. It bleed like a stuck pig. Thank God for septic pencils. I knew as soon as it happened. I don't know what I was thinking. I love shaving with a straight but it can be unforgiving. Chalk it up to learning. Maybe it was over confidence. Oh well we will move on. Its all just part of it

Right from when I first started with a straight I learnt to use both hands, it really helps with that dominant/non dominant issue.

As you grow in confidence you will likely pick up a couple of more serious nicks. Especially when changing from one razor to another, different sizes etc can cause you to adjust technique etc, I had real issues when I got my first square point it really made a difference and I got a few cuts.

Best advice is make sure you slow yourself down, even though you get faster with confidence it's worth going slower than you know you can

    Good luck!

    Chicks dig scars.
    We have all done it.
You are learning a new skill set,new razor, and really your learning your face in a way that most have no clue about.
Thats alot of variables in any equation.
The worst part is waiting for your face to heal before you can shave again.
Wet shaving isnt speed shaving. try to figure out how you did it so you wont repeat it.
I have geographic mouth my upper and lower jaw are rock formations bumpy. I came off a bump and took a divot out of my cheek as well.
    Good shaves
Your only as good as your last hone job.
