The Glory and the Agony
Well first the glory. I have managed for the first time to shave 3 days in a row. Always managed to irritate the skin enough before that I had to wait a day or 2 between shaves (that and Im lazy). My technique is really starting to come along. Have a long way to go yet but am very happy and fully plan on shaving 2morrow as well.
Now the agony
The shave today wasn't that great, couldn't figure out why as normally it goes pretty well with my Dovo. After the shave I noticed something on the top that didn't wipe off. Passed a tissue over it again and it came off but on closer inspection I have a nick in the blade. I have no idea when I did it but &&^#$@~!#@ I did it! It isn't very large but it really doesn't take much does it.
I'll post pics later as I'm going out in a bit.

Congrats on the shave success. Get that nick honed out and hopefully you can get back to smooth shaves.
My wife calls me......... Can you just use Ed

I can see that leading to an unpleasant shave. Only small though and a easy fix. Good luck

+1 on possibly strop damage if nothing else has been hit with it
But an easy fix to hone back out, and definitely back to comfortable shaves
Takes a lot less than any obvious damage to make a blade feel rough on the skinSaved,
to shave another day.

I nicked my first razor (Dovo) on my 4th or 5th shave.
I feel your pain.

AS I am still learning to hone it will be a while before I even attempt to fix this. But will get to it eventually, till then I guess I wont be using the Dovo

Thanked: 0I have the same razor, I have killed my edge probably through bad stropping. I just bought a couple of stones and am going to attempt to bring the edge back myself.
Meantime, I have my shavette which I can always rely on to get a nice shave until I sort out the razor.
I also have a postage bag ready to ship the razor off and get it rehoned when I completely destroy it with the stones!
But hey, the only way to learn how to do anything is to do it.

I would pick up a cheapo antique special first, or if you can wait, something from the bay for under 7 pounds. This way, if you hone it down to a nub, it won't matter.
