You should give your sister a big hug Cliff ! Great set to start with. You could not wish for better quality blades.I would suggest using the smaller round tip for your early trials as the larger square tips can be more challenging around the nose and ears. May I suggest the SRP (Member Services) in the Classified section for your honing needs. Main Index - Straight Razor Place Classifieds

Those are better than whatever you would buy. All in nice shape and great shavers. And yes give your girlfriend a hug and take her out to dinner. Let us know how you make out.

Try shaving with all three at the same time to compare and see which one is best.

At the same time? That's be a neat trick and I'd pay money to see that video.

like the tittle said this is my first post. i have been a DE shaver for about two years now and am wanting to get into straight razor shaving. so as a gift my sister gave me this three razors she got at an auction. i was wanting your opinion if they would be worth sending out to be honed or should i just get a new dovo or boker that is shave ready.

    the first one is a: friedr.herder abr.sohn solingen germany 72 7/8's

    the second is a: friedr.herder abr.sohn solingen germany 257 6/8's

the third one is a: robenson with the razor that fits your face and its 7/8"s

all are very shinny and look in good shape.

All three actually look nice, just comes down to your preference of razor. But I would have all three honed.

Hey thanks for all the comments. Got them in the mail today to have them honed. You guys mentioned getting a good strop any recommendations for one around 50 or 60 dollars

SRD has quite a few in that price range in both 2" and 3".

SRD strops are a great value. They stand behind their products and are fast to ship. Can't go wrong with any of the ones they sell. I have 2 of theirs a long English bridle and a red latigo.....just can't beat them IMHO
