Thanked: 0first post and newbee qusetion
hello everyone
like the tittle said this is my first post. i have been a DE shaver for about two years now and am wanting to get into straight razor shaving. so as a gift my sister gave me this three razors she got at an auction. i was wanting your opinion if they would be worth sending out to be honed or should i just get a new dovo or boker that is shave ready.
the first one is a: friedr.herder abr.sohn solingen germany 72 7/8's
the second is a: friedr.herder abr.sohn solingen germany 257 6/8's
the third one is a: robenson with the razor that fits your face and its 7/8"s
all are very shinny and look in good shape.

Welcome to SRP!

As Utopian said, have them honed by a reputable hone master; those straights are well worth it, and you sure will enjoy them!
Edit: Anyway, welcome to SRP Cliff :-) !Last edited by Maarten; 05-04-2016 at 08:33 AM.

Thanked: 433Those are VERY nice razors and probably better than the low end of the Boker or Dovo lines. Get them honed and use them!!!

cliff, if you adjust your bio page and show where you are we could then recommend a Mentor or Senior Member near you that can give you face-to-face time and get you further ahead on the learning curve.
If you look on the welcome page, left hand side and click on Local Help and scroll down to your locality (if listed) you might find a willing member ready to help.
If you need to send them out for honing check in the Classifieds and Member Services. A goodly number of professional and expert honers available. PM them for details and prices and turn around."The sharpening stones from time to time provide officers with gasoline."
