    Default Do you switch hands?

I was curious - I've been experimenting and wanted to know who switched hands as they shave. I was painting the other day - cutting in some ceiling edge work on the ladder when I switched the brush to my left hand and continued on. I thought to try it with the razor and I didn't lose any blood.

Is this common? Or was I lucky this one time and I'm gonna get cut bad next time?

I don't switch because I cut myself three days in a row by switching. however, I know that lynn does.

Should you emulate me or lynn? LYNN, DUHH!

But there is also the find your own path grasshopper deal too.

I switch and have not cut myself solely because of this. Doesn't mean that I haven't cut myself.

I switch hands. I use my right hand to shave the right side of my neck, with the blade pointing to the right side of my body, (and left hand, for left side of face, ...) but when going atg on the neck I use my left hand for the right side of my neck, and right hand for the left side of my neck. (I'm all screwed up).

I do switch hands. That being said, I'm left-handed and lefties are forced to develop more ambidextrous capabilities than righties, so switching isn't hard to master.

This has resulted in an unusual solution to doing two passes on my neck:

First pass with left hand - S-N right side, then N-S left side
Second pass with right hand is just the opposite - S-N left, N-S right

This gives me both N-S passes and S-N passes on both sides of my neck.

P.S. over the years I've developed an odd mix of handedness:

    Golf Club - right-handed : Baseball Bat - left-handed

    Pistol - left-handed : rifle/shotgun - right-handed

    Breast stroke (both hands)

I'm a lefty too, and I agree with every point that you made. Including the breast stroke.

I use both hands (am a righty) evenly including cross body. Usually shave is two right handed passes and one left handed pass on right side and then two left and one right on left side. Never any propensity to more nicks/cuts with either hand really.

I forced myself to shave with both hands from the beginning. I gave myself two or three nasty slices with my left hand on my left cheek when I first started, but have been fine since.

I use both hands as well. I figure once you do that, you can reach anywhere one way or another.

Yep, I agree. Left hand for left side, right hand for right side (although I do the opposite for the ATG pass).
