This reminds me.. I had to shave my wife's legs with my straight last year during the family vacations. She had forgot her cartridge razor. Best shave she ever had...
And for those of you who are wondering... it didn't lead anywhere... The kids were in the room....
Cheers,

Thanked: 5Elizabeth Taylor was one of the most beautiful actresses of her time. I had no clue that she used to shave her face. According to this article, so did Marilyn Monroe: What Every Woman Needs to Know Before Shaving Her Face

Thanked: 480Once people on my festival circuit found out I used a straight, I was asked to shave many a ladies legs for them. Most out of curiosity more than anything else.
I can tell you from experience, a safety razor is preferable for shaving the legs at the bikini line. Its way to easy to catch skin at the crease where leg meets groin.
But for legs, straights are still my go to. I regularly gift safety razors to the women who show an interest in disposing of their disposables!

Thanked: 5Good Morning, Magpie,
Thanks for the info.
Many years ago my girlfriend told me that when she was in college, one of her boyfriends loved to shave her bikini line in a pattern he liked. She allowed him. I asked her if she was worried about his hands holding what was then an inferior razor by today's standards near her most vulnerable area. She said she wasn't, and he never cut her. As long as he was happy she didn't care, except when it began to regrow. She said that area will itch like hell when it grows back.
I don't think that I'd feel comfortable shaving a woman's bikini line. I'd fear cutting her. And how she grooms that area is her business, not mine.
I have had girlfriends and my ex-wife tell me that they didn't like shaving bikini lines. Of course, they had to shave bikini lines during beach weather. I've told them to use good-quality shaving cream, not soap, and to apply a liberal amount to areas just shaved and their bikini line bumps wouldn't appear.
I live in So Cal. If you saw bikinis that women are wearing, you'd ask why they've bothered to wear them because there is just about nothing left to the imagination. That means they're doing a whole lot of shaving in their most vulnerable regions. Either that or they're keeping waxing salons in business. Regardless, good-quality shaving cream applied to bikini lines after shaving will take care of bumps and redness.
Many baseball players use shaving cream to condition their gloves.
I don't become involved in women's hygiene, and thank God it's never been an issue. I've had girlfriends go days, maybe even a week or more without shaving, especially while camping. After they've reached showers, they were good to go. Sometimes life gets in the way, and women are lucky to find time to shower before they begin hectic days.
When I was in college, a female European student told me that American men had an unrealistic view of how women should look. Maybe she was right. Whom am I to judge? However, I do prefer women to shave their legs and underarms. The one thing I remember about that female European student is she never shaved her legs. She was also incredibly sweet, very confident, and beyond extremely intelligent. She's probably a NASA scientist.

Thanked: 5I knew it was bound to happen. Last night while we were lying in bad watching TV, she wanted to take another look at my brand spanking new straight razor. Keep in mind that I've never used it. I was watching the Stanford game, not paying attention to her. Suddenly she began shaving her legs with it. I tried to tell her that straight razor shaving was a process, not a spontaneous removal of hair. I showed her what I thought would be the proper angle for leg shaving. She made a few more passes. Then I took it from her, telling her that that blade still had factory packing oil on it, that should she cut herself, that packing oil might cause a serious infection. But I knew my intuition was right: she loves all things antique, and while she held it, I told her that her grandmother had assuredly learned to shave with a straight razor. Now all I have to do is to see if she would forego convenience of her beloved Fusion for the art of straight razor shaving.
BTW, she did tell me that after I learn to use it, she'd let me shave her legs with it. After she learns how to shave her legs with a straight razor, she might just return to practices of artists of yesteryear. She did ask about straight razor shaving her bikini line. I told her that she ought to have a professional straight razor shave it a few times before she tries it. But I'm not sure if there's a women's spa where we live that straight razor shaves women. She might have to find a woman who's willing to show her how to straight razor shave her bikini line.

Personally, I too, would start her on a DE. IF she is insistent on trying a SR, I would think more about a shavette style.
I doubt there is a true 'difference', per say. However, I would 'assume' very good edge maintenance would be required. As leg hair seems to be a LOT harder on edges. I know, regardless of how new the blade is, on my DE, I know on the very 1st pass if my wife used it to shave her legs. They (women's leg hair) seem to dull a blade in a heart beat. Although my wife shaves every single day, unlike a lot, of women who skip a day or two. ((She's tried, it drives her nuts with stubble. And, I like her always having super smooth legs all the time, too. )) This is why I think a shavette style would be better. No stropping...just replace and go.Last edited by AcesandEights; 10-02-2016 at 05:37 PM.

Good morning Gentlemen. This will be the only time I will request that you keep this particular subject family oriented. We must and do make the assumption that we have families, including children, who read our forum. TreeBrand, while we welcome you to the forum, you need to understand that you will leave bikini lines out of this discussion, period.
For a few others posting here remarks about shaving a women's nether regions is not appropriate here or anywhere else on SRP.
It was mentioned in this thread that at one time we did have a section for women's wetshaving. We removed that forum because some of our members could not resist acting like complete idiot's.Bob
